Hotel Shalimar

Client Brief

To create a warm and inviting ambience in the lobby of the newly renovated prominent hotel in the business district of Bangalore.

The Challenge

was to create a design that would give the space a rich feel & also give it the perception of space since the ceiling was low and the lobby was small .

The Theme

The name ‘Shalimar’ is synonymous with great beauty as the Emperor Shah Jahan created the Shalimar Gardens which are known for their royal beauty. Keeping this in mind the ‘lotus flower’ was chosen as the pivotal form and the design was developed around it. Mirrors have been used extensively to give the feel of added space & also to infuse the space with reflected light .Since it is onto the road, the mirrors reflect the buzz of people and vehicles moving adding a whole new dynamism to the space. The use of muted golden hues gave the lobby a royal look without appearing garish and thus added a certain elegance and charm to the place.

The aesthetic artwork helped in recreating grandeur and infusing the space with irresistible beauty.

  • We are in the business of jewellery and other collectibles, and are known to have an eye for the finer things in life. We have in our collection several works of art such as a Padamsee, a Vaikuntam, and several Gujrals and Yusuf Arakals.
Our latest acquisition is a work of art from MadhuChandrika — a brilliant piece of work at the entrance of our office. Its an artwork that speaks for itself! The colours are shaded just right, and the maroon and gold blend perfectly to create an arresting piece.
MadhuChandrika can truly make your wall speak. She is someone we would be happy to recommend and be associated with.

  • MadhuChandrika’s mission is to bring extraordinary art into work spaces. While our operations have grown into a premier aerospace company in the country, she has contributed to an atmosphere of creativity across our campus. Right from the time you enter — be it the reception or across our engineering centre — you will see aerospace murals depicted in a very artistic manner.
